Dr. Hanis

I love being an orthodontist. Every morning I look forward to coming to the office and helping each of my patients achieve a wonderful smile that they can love. My journey to this point in life began in Ann Arbor, Michigan where I was born while my parents attended graduate school at the University of Michigan. One year later my family moved to Houston. I attended Westbury High School and then
Brigham Young University earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Zoology. After graduation I returned home to Houston to attend the University of Texas Dental Branch.

I love learning new things and serving others. I was blessed to have had an opportunity to serve a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to Campinas, Brazil for 2 years and became fluent in Portuguese. I am also proud to be an Eagle Scout, an Omicron Kappa Upsilon Dental Honor Society Member, and a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics. I strive to uphold the highest of standards in both my personal and professional aspirations.

2019_Diamondplus I love my family. During college I met my sweetheart, Amy and we are now the proud parents of 5 beautiful children (Hailey, Zach, Chloe, Molly & Ellie). Although being a dad is my favorite thing in the world, I also enjoy bike riding, skiing, fishing, riding roller coasters, photography, swimming and coaching my kids’ sports teams.

We love calling Katy our home and it is wonderful to live and practice in this great community. I am grateful to be a part of the lives of so many kids and families and commit myself to providing beautiful smiles, a caring attitude, a good example, and being a friend to all. I know that every smiles counts and I would love the opportunity and privilege of getting to know you and your family.

Dr. Proft

Growing up in West Hartford, CT, I always had a passion for making others smile. I was known for my goofy jokes, which allowed me to share a smile with others. For as long as I can remember, I have wanted to be in the dental field. Ultimately, I pursued a career in orthodontics to make a positive impact on my patients by improving their confidence and oral health. I am grateful that I now get to share in other’s happiness through crafting beautiful, healthy smiles, and not just silly jokes. In addition to creating beautiful smiles, I strive to make every patient feel like family and provide a comfortable, fun experience throughout the journey of their orthodontic treatment.

After graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in Biological Psychology from the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, I moved to snowy Chicago, IL to teach fourth grade with Teach for America. After that assignment, I returned to CT to attend dental school at UCONN for my doctorate of dental medicine.

I moved to Houston, Texas for my orthodontic residency at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston. Besides earning my orthodontic certificate and Master of Science in Dentistry, Houston gave me a love for Blue Bell ice cream, live oak covered streets, and snow-less winters.

When I’m not in the office, I enjoy cycling, exploring new neighborhoods, spending time with friends, and traveling to the Northeast to visit family. I am so excited to be joining Hanis and Stevenson Orthodontics and cannot wait to be part of such an awesome community!
